In this project, a new stratified water storage system has been developed. The key aspect lies in the optimized design of a diffusion system based on radial geometry diffusers and which has been improved in terms of thermal storage efficiency. The prototypes have been constructed according to the results of numerous computational simulations of both the distribution of the flows taking part in the tank and the formation of the thermocline, tests that have been performed using an optimized and flexible mathematical model, also conceived in a special way, in order to study the different factors that affect the energy efficiency of the tank.
In addition, the designed diffusion system has been configured as a prefabricated solution, flexible and versatile to different requirements that, in this way, can be manufactured and inspected in Spain and sent for assembly at destination, resulting in a greater process control, Increased quality, protection of intellectual property and reduction of assembly and delivery times.
The design achieved thus, constitutes a substantial improvement over the previous octagonal diffusers in terms of costs and manufacturing times, design, assembly and transport, maintaining an energy performance within the expected parameters obtained after the simulations.
This project has been co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the Pluri-Regional Operational Program for Intelligent Growth.
We create solutions and guarantee success by taking full responsibility of the overall project.
