District Cooling system advantages: its Superpowers

The Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 (DIES) sets the strategic direction of the Emirate towards securing sustainable energy supply and enhancing demand efficiency (power and water). A crucial part of the project constituted developing an Integrated Energy model based on a deep understanding of the global and local energy industry and market. A smart urban development that integrates advance information systems and more efficient sources of energy is being consolidated in most of the industrialized countries. The main idea is to mitigate pollution, CO2 emissions and make overpopulated urban clusters a better place to live in the long term. Energy consumption worldwide has increased by over 30% since 2000, putting pressure on our natural resources. Countries around the world are focusing on deploying energy efficiency measures But how to do more with less? This increasing challenge applies also to the energy sector in cities. Resources are scarce and climate change is being a proven fact. Since the year 1880, the average global temperature on Earth has increased by about 0.8° Celsius, and these phenomena are highlighted in the cities where thousands of people, cars, factories have to survive facing new challenges that the old solutions have not to be able to resolve. Changing the current paradigm is the most feasible alternative to mitigate climate change and support the cities to reach their ambitious goals in terms of energy consumption. It is in this context that the Centralized District Cooling & Heating Plants appeared as an energy-efficient alternative

The District Cooling system methodology

Cooling is needed all around the world, especially in cities and the classic individualized alternative consisting on small splits units in each house or office is not very efficient, but it has worked until now. ARANER’s seawater District Cooling Network system

However, to reach the standards imposed by the Smart Cities concept implies to go from 0 to 1 using a different methodology and the Centralized District Cooling Plant has been able to reach this goal. The use of a single cooling system that produces energy for a large number of users is much more efficient in terms of energy consumption and conservation. But what if we were able to made DC even more efficient?

Looking for a District Cooling System?

ARANER, as the leading company in refrigeration, has been researching for more than 20 years new alternatives to improve the performance of refrigeration plants for different applications and for the last years we have applied this big knowledge to DC plants. What if we could create District Cooling Plants with superpowers? What if we were able to produce cooling for an entire city without consuming water but in a highly efficient way? What if we were able to create more efficient chillers in terms of electrical consumption reducing CO2 emissions? Today, and thanks to the highly specialized engineers form ARANER, District Cooling Plants with superpowers are becoming a reality. ARANER District Cooling innovative solutions allow us to design plants with zero water consumption and with very similar yearly efficiency as a plant with cooling towers. Also, ARANER District Cooling Plant designs are able to reduce the size of a standard cooling plant in 40 %, which is a great solution for the limited space available in the cities. The particular conditions of the project are essential in the development of a seawater condensation solution. The intake and outfall points are carefully studied in order to avoid the malfunction of the plant and to fulfill all environmental regulations. For each particular project, there should be the elaboration of  environmental impact studies, geological reports, water quality studies, bathymetric charts elaborations, seawater tides and currents studies, and more. ARANER has the capabilities for performing projects within the industry standards and up to client satisfaction, complying with every local and international regulation. Please, contact ARANER team for more information about how to design Cooling Plant with superpowers!
